The Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit is soon to be held in North China's coastal city of Tianjin. For Bruce Connolly, a British photographer who has long trained his lens on the city’s landscapes, the gathering will offer the world a rare opportunity to encounter Tianjin’s charm and glimpse the living spirit of China.
Bruce is particularly enamored of Tianjin’s bridges and the river vistas along the Haihe River. Time and again, he pauses upon those bridges, capturing luminous moments where city lights shimmer upon the water.
In his works, there are not only the winter flights of Siberian doves, the grandeur of the Tianjin Eye, and the quiet dignity of ancient temples, but also the warmth of everyday life in bustling markets. Together, these scenes weave a tapestry of rich culture and urban vitality.
To Bruce, Tianjin is a city to fall in love with: its streets are clean and tidy, its life serene, its greenery abundant, and within it flows the gentle warmth of ordinary human life. Perhaps that is why, once having come, he finds it hard to ever leave.
